quantreau "Empathetic dance music" is a phrase that I hadn't heard before D.D. Curry mentioned it in relation to this EP, but I have to say... if it exists, this is it. Clearly the result of lots of care and love in the studio, and you can feel D.D.'s kind soul emanating from every beat. Favorite track: Resolve Ft. Fine Farmer.

about

In his expressive solo debut EP, recent NYC-to-London transplant D.D. Curry weaves a story of quiet perseverance and patience in the pursuit of one’s dreams, told through textural, wistful house music.

The Resolve EP’s A-side “It Was You” is both reflective and funky; Curry’s driving synth bass perfectly counters his effects-laden guitar work for a tune that’s equally suited for late-night drives and intimate dancefloor moments. The title track “Resolve” is a warm, reflective journey through sliced-up drum samples, melodic low-end, and hypnotic arpeggios. The special ingredient is the atmospheric pedal steel playing of Fine Farmer, an enigmatic Brooklyn multi-instrumentalist who, through a chance bar encounter, became Curry’s first friend in New York. The EP is concluded by Lisbon producer Bernardo Mota’s pumping deep house transformation of “It Was You” into a dubby, irresistible club heater.

Before Curry relocated to London, the Los Angeles-born artist spent years in Brooklyn quietly honing his sound while building a reputation for energetic DJ sets at his Jupiter Disco monthly residency, Feel Free. A lockdown collaboration with his friend Panooc led to tracks included on Logic1000’s Mixmag Cover Mix, followed by the pair’s well-received ‘Give Some EP’ on Fortune Signal, which Curry co-founded in 2022. With the release of the Resolve EP on Y4 Collective, D.D. Curry presents his own vision for thoughtfully crafted, empathetic dance music.
